Tweed, Harris Tweed.

So it's been a week that I have been off school officially and my brain doesn't know what to do with itself!

The other night I had a dream about meeting a man named Harris Tweed and I decided in the morning to do some research into the trademarked textile and see what is new from the Hebrides.

I found there are few sites that are selling the yardage and softgoods which was promising. The age-old textile is still made the traditional way by weavers and there are something like 8,000 patterns available!

What to do When There is a Chill in the Air

You could bundle up in your parka on the cafe terrace or you could warm up up in style if they have these cool patio lanterns on.



Are these not the super chic alternative to those ugly gas heaters that can be seen keeping the chill away on those cooler summer evenings? While the gas heater might not be the best "green" solution to keeping warm in the outside areas we frequent, they are sometimes a necessary evil. Might as well go with the best looking of the bunch and this stylish solution from Kindle Living is the way to go. Note they are available with the optional LED lamp so the base is not to be missed. A Note About Stools

You may have come to the conclusion that I have a little bit of an addiction to the chair. I will admit that I really like chairs. They have a sculptural element to them that I feel can add something special to a space if done right so I am partial to a few that I am slowly bloggingn away about here.


Just to add a new dimension to my posts I will throw you off by putting some stools into the mix. Here are a select few that I find appealing and I have considered using for projects in the past. Options 1, 3 and 4 are also eco-friendly according to Yliving.

Of course my fave of this bunch is the most expensive one on the right. I just think it would be so fab with a few other mid-century mod pieces that I have also featured before. At any rate, stools are just FUN any way you look at them.

Look Up, Way Way Up!...

Ceilings are often overlooked (or underlooked.......!) for potential to incorparate design elements so here are some "afterthought" solutions that can add some funk to an otherwise bland ceiling.

I am partial to the flowery solution after a long winter and this would be an easy and temporary solution that could be quickly changed up. Definitely good for those of us who are renters. Found at MarieClaireMaison.com.

All Kinds of Etsy Goodness

I have been an Etsy-addict for a while now....OK so I guess 5 years is more than just a while and maybe I have a problem. I take long breaks from it sometimes but every once in a while I just feel the urge to virtually window shop. Its cheap entertainment for those on a limited budget and there are no pushy sales people. A bit of retail therapy never hurt anyone. But I digress.

What I really love the most about Etsy is the diversity of items you can find there. Above are some really nicely executed vases. A new-ish take on an old item, the wall hung aspect is quite beautiful and the forms are clean and uncomplicated. At $21 US they are reasonably priced also. This item on the other hand is an aptly named piece and just goes to show the level of "?" that can go on in a free market such as the internet. Kudos to this designer for putting the "Thing" out there! It is a well executed thing afterall. If I was a billionaire and money were no object I would actually consider buying this item but for now $100,000 US is a bit steep for me. More interesting items in the Polish designer's shop here.
